South Carolina Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI)

This program typically consists of 30-50 hours of community service, counseling, passing drug screenings, and written assignments. The main goal of PTI is to provide intervention services to hopefully deter future criminal activity and provides first time offenders a second chance through rehabilitative services.

Many charges can be dismissed through successful completion of the PTI program and individuals with no prior record may qualify for this diversion program.  PTI is a one-time opportunity, so you cannot take advantage of the PTI program more than once.  After successful completion of this program, your charges will be dismissed and your charge will be eligible for expungement from your record.  Depending on the charges against you, without PTI you may face fines, jail time and loss of certain rights.
